Though celebration of the Lunar New Year originated in China, many other cultures in East Asia also observe the holiday, including Korea, Singapore and Vietnam. The Chinese zodiac is a traditional classification scheme based on the Chinese calendar that assigns an animal and its reputed attributes to each year in a repeating twelve-year cycle. The Year of the Rabbit is the fourth year in the cycle, following the Year of the Tiger and preceding the Year of the Dragon. ![]() In between are the Years of the Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster and Dog. The cycle begins with the Year of the Rat and ends with the Year of the Pig.
